La Conspiración de Eagle Eye, un poquito de Asimov

is possible for the sake of comparison I aim to make, one might consider the following as a big spoiler for the movie "Eagle Eye" (Eagle Eye, 2008) . For this reason, unless has been or do not mind, better not read on.

"Eagle Eye" (2008), uninformative title that has resulted in Spain, to give more meaning and attract more people, has been called with a neutral "Eagle Eye ". Since then, the original Eagle Eye , says nothing, but as the film progresses one learns that Eagle Eye is the name of a computer major. It is possible that most people compare the function of that computer with George Orwell's "1984" by the end manipulation and control, but no. For my taste is much closer to something else, namely the impressive Multivac, the final computer designed by one of the greatest geniuses of science fiction, Isaac Asimov, which certainly has not had much luck in their adaptations in film, though for my taste "Bicentennial Man" (Bicentennial Man , 1999) was a good movie that had nothing to envy to his narrative.

For those who do not know Multivac, the first thing I would recommend buying "Collected Stories I" Asimov. It was the center of several of his stories, a giant computer that controlled and knew everything, he was able both to choose the political leader the people want by asking a single citizen to fill gaps in its network of information, as well served therapist, hearing problems around the world and trying to answer them or to advise politicians and military in their actions and risks. But there are many more stories, among which is surely one of the best and most rounds ever written in science fiction, "Last question."

As I was watching the film was becoming more and more certain that Eagle Eye was an unacknowledged adaptation of an Asimov story. In particular, reminded me very much "All the world's ills" (All the Troubles of the World) (full story and translated here) , which are not of the best is quite interesting. In the end there was such adaptation, but there were some curious similarities.

For those who have not read or do not remember the story, it is threatened the very existence of Multivac . In itself, this may not sound very important, but more surprising is that it really was not anyone want to kill it, but wanted to commit suicide Multivac. Since I could not for obvious physical reasons, takes the trouble to choose a city much like someone who worked there to let him pass. That city really did everything to save his father, and had no knowledge of what was happening. Multivac

not take it anymore, so many things the world knew that he was aware of the misery that surrounded him, so many problems, many ills, led him to suicidal. In contrast, Eagle Eye is not as empathetic. End, despite having good intentions even given the apparent lack of significant ethical and Machiavellianism, was not as respectable as that of Multivac . Here we are not a poor computer that suffers, but a controller that does its job.

But it is curious like a computer that controls and knows everything, advises on actions to be performed by the human, political and military seeks an individual "identical to" that can access system to do something that only he can do. It's almost like Asimov's story with action and giving a twist to the issue assassin, eliminating yes, the deep part of the story: if the world's most powerful computer, the one who knows and knows everything, wants to commit suicide, what world do we live?

not consider it plagiarism or anything like that, but like me are quite clear, but may be simple coincidence or influence, I see no intent to hide anything in it. Now, if I had to know only one of the two works, I'll stick with Asimov without hesitation. It makes me think more, and the movie only adds an action so fast that leaves me no time to find out what happens.
